hmm, but you think the weight savings would be anything worth moving to the l or xl?

I personally think the bigger the motor the better. Less stress, less heat.

Not to bash you but that is pretty hard to beleive. CM36S series motors are one of the more sensitive motors to gearing and unless you have gearing down to a perfect match i just dont see getting those temps are feasible. All the CM36S series motors that Ive seen ran hot to extremely hot no matter how you geared them.

Well Takedown showed me a sweet little motor, its the Ammo 36-56... just a hair under the size of an xl, its like an anorexic xl...... the kv is 1800. Hey anyone out there can u tell me whats the tallest gearing that can fit on a Jato? Right now with the 1800kv 25/54 and 5s on 4.1" tires its only making 64mph.. thinking of getting a 7xl like Jzeemax said.. less stress on the motor.. and its 2383kv with the same gearing its pushing almost 80mph!!!!

so depending on if someone buys/trades the raze i might start work on this one...

80mph is pure insanity at its heart. Hitting past 65mph will be difficult to control let alone not crash. I say setup first with a low gearing setup then gear up.

Go to mod 1 pinions, you can go to 25/40, or maybe even smaller spurs, depending on motor to tranny clearance.

I agree with TD, it sure is fun to run at the high speeds but its rather a surprise if I dont break something after a run, I have been going through front end parts mostly now...I have broken a set of RPM caster blocks...I have a set of AL ones on order from Mike.....also I have been using a set of Ananconda tires...thay are a bit too grippy for my tastes, I think I might go back to the solid foams I was running earlier my stance is as wide as they are with the Traxxas wheels but there is no tire ballooning

According to traxxas i can fit a 20/40 gearing setup on this thing... that opens quite a few doors...
