Thanks Neil and James.. I’ll look into the radio’s tonight..

Quick recap:
• Got the frame (check)
• Got two 6mm paint ball guns firing 20 rounds (check) weighing 4lbs
• Got the articulating firing mount (check)
• Got 8 rockets and 2 set of pods (check)
• I got the firing system recommendation (check)

Need the following:
I still need help with the deploying the rear smoke
I still need help to figure out a way to keep the rockets in the pods while bashing the truck
I need to find and buy a 6+ channel radio system
I need to buy another 6mm paint semi auto paint gun

I'm pretty sure I’ve figured out already know how the doors will work (drew if up last night). It will be basically controlled like Linc ref above (linkage and servo).. I'm a little lost on the rotary thing (sorry)..

I plan on bolting the rocket pods to the inside of the gull wing doors, that way when they raise up so do the rockets.. OOoo I can see it now… LOL.LOl.. depends on the weight ?? TBD

My 6mm Semi Auto paint gun only holds 10 rounds (bummer) but its all electronic so I’ll have the options of using either a crude linkage system or I’ll pay BrianG for some programming time.. I even (I think) figured out a way to install two of them, so between 8 rockets and 20 rounds of paint I should be just about good to go.. LOL.LOL

Another thing I still need to figure out is deploying smoke out the rear (some camouflage and confusion screen ).. I know planes have something like a smoke bottle but I'm not sure I can use that on a truck.. So again (any help) is deeply appreciated..

Arct1k
GREAT PULL and at $45 bucks a pop I got two (gave me more ides / Just incase the gull wings fail) Thank you SIR…

Should be a total blast at the next so-Cal bash… (literally!)

Nothing!.. Hahahahaaa..

Smoke...

Ignition is the only issue... But not sure why you couldn't use an electric igniter...

PS I think you can do a google on e-matches to look at ignition options.

That's cool Arct1k.. I don’t know how you find these things but you’re the Man..

Although I'm checking the plane sites for a canisters type, if planes have them there has got to be something I can buy ??.

Thanks for the throwing them out Sir.. Please keep them coming..

great project.

My question goes to rocket flight path with no fins to aim them, or will you be doing something like that FFAR's (folding fin aerial rocket) that they can mount to attack helis?

Hay DickyT,
I’ll be using a folding fin system.. I got a heavy duty air cleaner and plan on using the flutes of the filter as fins for the rockets, they fold onto the rocket and then slide into the pod. In theory they should expand once the rockets leave the pods.. In theory..
If they need help re-xpandning after they leve the pod then I / "WE" will need to think of somthing.. Hoping the above works..

lol this reminds me of a project i wanted to do when i was 10, boy is great to be an adult, you get to do those things you dream about.

When i was a kid i build a rocket launcher with a wired launch control panel i used very thing copper wire forming a spiral,(resistance) then let true some amount of current to fuse the wire this ignited the "rockets".

also you might consider an auto destruct mechanism lol

I would find some sort of thin spring metal that can be used to make fins. That way they can be folded up and will hold the rocket in the tube. Problem will be finding something thin and springy, but not too strong that the rocket will not come out of the tube when powered.

For smoke, might want to look into this: http://www.tmenet.com/products.htm#ssp
It already has the ability to interface with an R/C signal natively.

For general electronic switch needs, you could try these: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...P?&C=MBZ&V=EMO
They turn the radio pulse signals into actual switched outputs.

You can get servos that do not have a specific range of motion - they act as winches instead. Tower has some but not sure what they would be called...
