this topic is neverending ... lugging a car battery in the woods would be a very big pain though on the quad. very heavy and don't want to spill it...just what i'm looking for spilling acid on my nerf nets. then i'm assuming i have to take the charger/s also. i guess the nice thing would be running the nitro while i was charging some batts.

that rustler ... 2.5...thats about the worst motor i've ever ran. starting problems is because its not tuned right, carry a temp guage in your pocket and check the temp here and there and you don't have start up/flame out problems. the price difference in starting out into the hobby is where i like nitro also. the cost of a rc10gt rtr w/all your goods to run and a gallon of fuel is $300. a rc10t4 rtr then add a good charger and 2 battery packs and your over $400 now make that t4 run with my gt your looking at another 200 or so for bl...and until i dish out b/l flow i'll be running my nitros more *speaking of...if you have a cheap brushless setup that would work in an emaxx stampede or t4 let me know wishmasstir@hotmail.com*

There are batteries that are half the size of a carbatteries that can power a charger like a motorcycle battery or a gelcell, you cah even get a sealed hobby starter battery that should be good for a day of r/cing that are smaller than a car battery(like 1/3 the size). if you can get to it by car you can use the battery in the car and not have to carry it

Don't the atv have a battery on it? Mine sure does.

Yes, basicly all atv's have batteires because they have lights/turn signals and some electric start.

yup, they sure do. the main reason they have to have them is, like sylvester said, the lights, ect. but also the electronic ignition although if that was the only thing it was needed for they wouldnt have one. they would just use a magneto on the crank like dirtbikes. i would say the BEST way if you dont have power is a jump starter for a car. some even have a a/c outlet. not to mention it wouldnt really take bl to make a t4 run with a gt. about $50 for a mod motor and thats about it.

Why do you have to take it in the woods? The neighbors don't mind the noise of the electric. Just the nitro.

i can bash in the yard i guess but i don't have 50 foot doubles in my yard ... i have them at my motorcross track in the woods. i don't have neighbors to complain about the noise of anything either.

a lot of quads dont have batteries, mainly sport/race quads which is what i run on the track.

don't mod motors wear out fast and suck up batteries even faster??? how much run time could i get with a set of lipos in my stampede with a reedy quad mag 19t and novak racer-ex esc??? sorry not really the place for these questions....

Depends on what you mean by wear out. If you race every weekend yes you need to rebuild every two to three weeks, but if you bash like most of us, I don't know about other people, I just replace the brushes when they are short enough that the spring has trouble maintaining pressure. I don't have a com cutterso i use a piece of sandpaper and a light touch to clean up the commutator. All my motors are over two years old and have the origional armatures with the origional commutators and have no problems with them

Yes, good maitenance will give very long life of the motor(s).

the motors will last forever if you treat them properly

Not forever, the brushes will go after 3-4 years MAX after being used.

yes i do have a gas truck the noise isn't a big problem but yes the gas spilling and spitting everywhere is kinda hard to clean. yea my next project is going to be a nice revo conversioned bl or an e-maxx bl but thats in the works for more in the future. right now my gas truck is fine no problems yet.keeping it clean by having it a road only truck.......:013: :018:

one thing that bugs me is the charging.....gas you can wait 10 min to cool and go run again......but if you have a pro charger then dont mind this quote
