I´ll really like to see a motor can with heat pipes. Even if they are heavier than a simple heatsink, at least the are pasive devices.

You shouldn't need heatpipes, water cooling, or even fans though. If your motor is running too hot there are issues in your setup. It could be gearing, binding, poor quality motor, etc. but a proper setup will not overheat. Before the unfortunate frying of my Neu, the hottest I could get it was 145F which is fine considering how long I ran it, how hard I ran it, and it was too high of KV for my application.

i got mine to 155 but was geared for 53mph or so..

not if you are running high voltage! 2poles can take high voltage better than 4poles. Now 4 poles are better for 6s and under 2poles are going to have higher rpm

rpms causes destruction.. 4 and 6 pole motors make more torque and turn lower rpm. keeping them in below failure point, the added torque allows you to gear to compensate...

He is right multipole motors are better..at high voltage

not if your motor is rated for it! the c50 comp is a 80000 rpm motor. and the 9xl can take up to 8s (my future bl plans)

I don't know how you can say this. And I have to disagree with you on this as well.

Usually, pole count is determined by rotor diameter, not by voltage. Voltage doesn't really enter into the equations at all -- you can always change windings to make up for pole count difference (for example, a 2 turn 2 pole is the same torque as a 1 turn 4 pole...)

I also think the 4 pole mentioned by Patrick will still have more torque being it has twice the magnet. Basically a 2 pole would be a 4 cylinder and a 4 pole would be 6 cylinder and 8 pole well would be 8 cylinder. Ever wonder why outrunners have more torque then our popular 4 pole inrunners?
