You shouldn't need heatpipes, water cooling, or even fans though. If your motor is running too hot there are issues in your setup. It could be gearing, binding, poor quality motor, etc. but a proper setup will not overheat. Before the unfortunate frying of my Neu, the hottest I could get it was 145F which is fine considering how long I ran it, how hard I ran it, and it was too high of KV for my application.

i got mine to 155 but was geared for 53mph or so..
