Wild YFZ. I think you are way overgeared with a 33T on there. If you gear down to about 25T I'm sure your speed will increase.

Anyway, I have an order from Tower which I am hoping will arrive tomorrow, if it does, I'll be able to have pictures of it up. I'm itching to run it. I think I'll borrow my friend's CrapAmps 3S 1100 packs to run in parallel to try it on 3S first. I have a feeling something in the drivetrain is gonna hate me when I run 4S.

I don't think goin from a 33t to a 25t will increase my speed, Im running 3s lipos wich is around 11.1~ volts and I am seeing 52mph tops, Yet the 12 cell Ni-mh setup running a 23t pinion at 14.4volts is seeing 50, And you all know the speed claims by traxxas are a bit off. So i think 33t is not over geared at all as both the ESC and motor reached 130 from about 10 passes, If i was overgeared the temps wouldn't be the same ( ESC- 123, Motor-132) Also the motor had no trouble pulling that gearing either it still did wheelies like crazy, Actually did a 50mph wheelie and it sounded all fine.

Since my diff yoke broke, I removed the front axles and just made it rear-wheel drive. I was able to get through one run with 23t pinion and the stock battery. The top speed was expectedly low, but it was still pretty fun. I threw in the 3s lipo and that was a perfect bashing speed for me.

Three minutes into the 3s run I ran into a curb and broke the right front upper A-arm. The brakes are much weaker than I am used to. With my other similar vehicles (RC18, Vendetta ST, CRT.5), I can stop from full speed in just a few feet if I need to. With the E-Revo VXL, I wasn't even going full speed. I hit the brakes 10 feet from the curb and it still hit hard enough to brake the A-arm. I'm figuring that has more to do with the ESC than anything else, so a Sidewinder might have to replace the stocker.

I am pretty disappointed that my truck has broken twice in 3 runs. I wasn't any harder on it than I am on the rest of my trucks. Hopefully Traxxas will send out replacements on Monday, then I'll know to take it easier on it when it's up and running again.

Not havong the braking power is mostly due to you tsking the front driveshaft out. No front driveshaft = no front brakes, which is where the most braking is done. All the other vehicles you listed are also 4wd which all brake well because they have front braking. See how fast a Rustler stops, they don't!

You make a good point, but the braking wasn't good even before I removed the front driveshafts, so I guess it went from bad to worse. :-)

All the local guys have been beating their E-Revo VXL's up pretty good at the track and nothing has broken on theirs so far. I'll give it another shot when the new parts get here.

Took the slash out to where they're building a local track - right now it's pretty rough dirt, a lot of rocks, and the recent heavy rains left it pretty wet...

That being said, it was a ton of fun! I flipped quite a few times when I hit some rocks, took some amazing tumbles, but didn't break anything. Just some mud to dig out of it.

Tons more fun on the dirt then on pavement! I'd had some second thoughts on the slash after running it on pavement, but it really looks amazing on the dirt.

Still running the stock battery, debating on either 3s in parrallel or 2s in parallel, when I make up my mind I'll get some on order.

I'd try a larger capacity single 2S lipo before you jump to a parallel configuration. My single 2S 1800mAh kicks butt!

So why not put two of those in, and get double the runtime?

I know this is just little off topic, Can someone please give me a measurment of the Mini E-revos shocks ? preferably eye to eye but end to end will work. Exact measurment pleeze!

In the Traxxas Manual, it states the eye to eye measurement is 47.75mm.

Hmmm, never thought those specs would have ben in the manual.
Thank you for the measurments BP-revo.

I had an idea of possibly using TC4 Shocks but they are about 10mm to long. DAM ! Maybe some other Manufacturers TC shocks are shorter ? Circumfrance will also play a part also.

I would just buy the aluminum bodies and TiNi shafts from Traxxas to make these just like a mini version of the upgraded Revo shocks (that now come standard on the E-Revo). They have proven to be great shocks from my experience with them, and I can't see the mini versions being much different quality wise.

That said, the stock shocks do suck...a lot. I haven't even ran mine and I can already tell that they aren't very smooth and have already leaked a solid amount of shock oil out of them cause there is almost no dampening.

I'm hearing ya ! The little gerbil in the wheel in my head was runnng like fool when I got the idea of possibly the TC shocks working because they could be scored cheaper on Fleabay than the upgrade via Traxxas.

Just ran mine today on one of my Hyperion G3 packs. Awesome lipos and quite a fun truck! I don't see why anyone would want to bash one of these on anything more than 2S. IMO, it's just a recipe for carnage and more time on the lid than on the wheels. Hell, it's hard enough keeping it on the wheels with 2S and a heavy throttle finger.
