Well, I hope there is a plastic spur, or else Mike will have to whip me up some custom pinions.

Sounds great. Can't wait to see it finally turn to brushless form. As far as I know, you may be the very first one to make it brushless.

Yeah... drive around until I find that orange 3..... ha ha

btw, the track is dry enough to run on now... you should try out the hyper before it rains tomorrow night. Nobody has done any work on the track but it's at least the snow is gone and it's dry.

lol. I know there is one other orange Mazda3 around, so make sure you get the right one! :) And BTW: it's "lava orange". ;)

Yeah, I saw that yesterday, but didn't have my Hyper 8 with me. And then today, I was running late for work and didn't have a chance to charge my lipos and gather everything together. Poo. Knowing Iowa, the track will probably stay wet and muddy until May once it starts raining. It doesn't help that the track has very poor drainage...

OK, here are some pics. Happy now? ;)

And a comparison with my Jato to show relative size:

The only thing I've modded so far is the CF plate on the servo...

Probably a MM 4600. I figure it's cheap and works well in the Jato, which is about the same weight despite the size. The 4600 will also let me easily use 2s or 3s. I was thinking of using 2s1p 5Ah maxamps lipos - 100A should be enough, eh? :)

Looks really nice and fairly straight forward for a conversion. Imagine it with a 5700 on 3s lipo :027: lol, it would literally fly!!! :027:

Edit: Even with the 4600, it shoudl have a high top speed and awesome run times.

Yeah, I really like the 4600. It's treated me very well so far. After plugging in the various values, top speed is calculated at over 32mph with a 15T pinion. Great for a smaller track. 3s would be over 48mph.

BTW: The CRT.5 diff ratio has been added to the calculator...

Sweet! Looks good!

Brian, could I go so far as to ask you for a few favors? :018:

First question is a simple one - what servo is that? Is that a standard sized one?

Second, could you measure the distance on the chassis from the servo to the tie bar on the front of the rear bulkhead.

Then, could you measure from the same tie bar to the post on the front of the chassis that the top plate bolts to (whatever that thing is).

Could you also measure the distance of the edge of the chassis (the part that has been angled)?

Lastly, can you measure width?

They don't have to be exact, but within a few mm is fine.

If you could do that it would be AWESOME! :027:

Seeing pics makes me want one now! :043::004:

The servo is a Hitec 225 and is not a standard size servo. Even though it's small, the 225 has 67 oz-in of torque and 0.11"/sec at 6v. Should be plenty.

I'll get you the dimensions tomorrow if that's ok. I just shut everything down for the night after making about 80% of the motor mount (still have to "machine" out the mesh slots - the part I hate to do). To make it easier to know what measurements you need, could you grab one of the pics above and draw lines showing what you mean? You can either post it here or PM it...

EDIT: Edited to remove inadvertent profanity. :dft001:
