The way the motor mount is set up lets you use a variety of motors. Just look at a pic of the mount and you'll see what I mean.

I would just also like to thank you Brian for the info on the crt.5. I thought it would end up costing a lot more. I think I may sell my bl rc18mt to fund this little project.:027: However, I'll keep the rc18 until Mike makes the drop in motor mount... then all the fun begins. :027:

BTW... Gorilla - the 2.5 should work well in it and should really make it fast. As for the XXX-4, you spoke of before, Beat Your Truck tested the Mamba Max using it, and they said it worked well with it even though it is belt driven. Here is the review:

I run a Associated FT B4 with the MM5700 on a trakpower 4900. It rips! It is very controlable if you get used to it and have a steady finger.

The problem with nitro's these days are that they arent brushless... LOL

Yeah, B4 is the way to go for racing. If you have enough budget, HB's new 4wd Cyclone D4 buggy will make you a leader.

That's a car I would like.... to replace my XX4 (which is awesome btw)

The HB is a poor man's BJ4WE (a direct 100% knockoff..) but that the way things are anymore. The BJ4 is wayyyyy expensive, so this is the answer for many.

I'd also take a Tamiya TRF501X. It's waaaay more cooler than any ep 4wd buggy I've seen so far.

I'm also keen to get a 1:10 buggy. I am deciding between the Kyosho Laser ZX5, MRC SBv2 Pro, and the JConcept BJ4WE. I think it's going to be the BJ4WE if I don't have to wait a long time for it. Getting one requires entering a preorder list and waiting. :(

I can recommend the Kyosho Lazer ZX-5. Had one last year and used a LRP Sphere Comp + 4 star with Orion Platinum 4800. Incredible performance and control. At $299 the ZX-5 is a very good choice. You can upgrade it later if you want a style similar to the BJ4 and TRF501X. I think the conversion is made by KMC. I like the original "tub" chassis and I wouldn't recommend converting it.

My opinion is that a 4wd is easier to drive if you're using a fast brushless or brushed motor. I haven't used lower than 13 turn in a 2wd.
