T-maxx gone brushless - 04.17.2007, 10:05 PM

Ok, I started off 2 years ago with a t-maxx. I've been through 3 nitro motors and i've grown to hate nitro. I run brushless motors in all my electric cars, and was always impressed with the power. So i took the plunge and converted my t-maxx to brushless.

I had problems with nitro power too (always replaced the engine with something bigger) so the whole truck has been beefed up with bulkless 7.5 8 spyder diffs, super maxx 6mm driveshafts, super 6 FOC, etc etc.

The only thing i continue to have a problem with at this point is the transmission input shaft, which contains 1st and 2nd speed drive and spur. These gears are the only thing left on the truck that is plastic. I know robinson racing makes a steel input shaft, but i'm still left with the spur gears. I've come across once another company that made those gears out of metal, but they stopped producing them a long time ago and are no where to be found.

I was ready to build a beefed up e-maxx transmission, but i want to keep the design of the disc brake on the front drive shaft (t-maxx transmission has the carrier holes for the calipers etc etc)

So. What can i do to get something to withstand 6000mah 4s2p 1515 1y torque ripping monster? I put new gears in the transmission, and they lasted less then one charge.

I'm not sure about the rest but I would try a single speed convertion along with a 1/8 spur/slipper set up.

Also... The available Ofna 51 tooth spur gears are manufactured in 3 material types, Steel, Plastic and Blue Delrin
