ofna spur mesh help - 05.04.2007, 10:59 PM

I have the strobe slipper with the ofna 51 tooth spur, its on a Neu 1515/1y motor with a 5mm 16 tooth pinion. I can't get it to mesh, the motor hits the trany! Does the ofna come in a bigger spur?
Do I need a bigger pinion?
HELP PLEASE

Welcome to the forums!

Most people running a finned Neu motor and the emaxx tranny run into that problem. Not sure if there is a bigger spur, but you could use a larger pinion and use mostly first gear. Or, and I hate to suggest this, file down the fins that are in the way.

There is a 65t spur that I think is made for the moster pirate (whatever that is).
It does have to be moddified a little bit to fit.
If you are using the stock motor plate you will probably need to drill a new hole or new slot in it (the motor plate) for the top motor screw, because the big spur will cause the motor to be so far away from the transmission it will be past the origonal slot.

Personally, I think it would be easier to simply get first gear back in there and lock it. The lower gearing in the tranny will offset the higher gearing when using a larger pinion.

i just got the spur i mentioned above to work with the strobe... all i did was drill 4 new holes that match the ofna spur and enlarge the centre cutout and its it fits nice... it also comes in a 60t version which would fit as well...
