I heard they already had the ESCs, two different ones, a standard one (6 LiPo max) and a HV one (12 LiPo) similar to their Phoenix-HV ESCs. But they were having problems finding a motor that met their expectations. I guess they're a 'quality-oriented' company, the type who would rather put out a good product tommorow than a mediocre product yesterday.

In response to the quote above; I don't mind a company waiting to put out a quality product. What I have a problem with is a company saying a product will be out "soon" for over a year. IMO, CC should take a page from Traxxas' book and not say anything until it's ready. Either that, or define what "soon" really means...

Circumstances are a bit different between CC and Traxxas. Traxxas is probably a much larger company, with a bunch of guys ready to test new things. CC, being smaller, goes to the public to test things (beta stage). Because of this the public will know about the product further away from the actual release. Of course, this doesn't count for the long wait we've experienced (which has exceeded 1 1/2 years at this point).

That is true I guess. OK then, CC should at least define what "soon" means. To the people waiting for it, soon is 3-4 months max. And what is the deal with them waiting for the motor to make bundles? They don't bundle motors with anything but their car line of ESCs. I realize they want to have a bundle for an out-of-the-box system, but enough already! Just release the dang ESCs before people get tired of waiting and go with something else!

I totally agree with brian. sad thing is more companies seem to be doing the "coming soon" crap though.

Preach brother! at this time if traxxas could do a 5s system with the setup of the velineon ( All features) I might have to go with them, especially if there are no other options.

The thing is if traxxas does it. It will have nice easy mounting.
That would be a plus over some others.
Peace!

I mentioned in a previous post in this thread about Traxxas losing a lot of MT business by not doing a E revo within the year they had the chance. I see the same possibility with Castle and Tekin by letting traxxas get a foot in the door

Have to agree- I would happily just have the MMM speedo and find my own motor, unless the MMM is very fussy so thats why they want to wait until they find/build a motor that works well & doesnt cog or over heat.
Heck, if you think about it, all they need to do is alter one of their big 200/300amp boat/plane speedos so it has reverse (cant be that hard surely?), then you could use it with the BIG boat/plane motors the esc is designed to work with, stick it in your truck, and a good time would be had by all.....

I hope that they (Castle) got the hint with the MM and makes the MMM compatible with other makes of motors. If it turns out to run well only with Castle's motors, I might just have to pass on the MMM. I know that Castle is working on a nice motor for the MMM system, but I doubt that it will be as good as a Neu.

From what I heard, they (CC) were trying to work a deal with Neu to use their motors as part of the package. So, even if CC doesn't use a Neu-based package, they should at least work with the Neus. They HAVE to know people are going to use large motors on the MMM since it is specifically designed for MT and other like-sized vehicles.
Besides, I'm sure CC is aware of the issue with Neu/MM and designed the software accordingly (or so we hope).

I know for a fact that Castle was testing with the NEU's and wanted to either have NEU OEM the motors for them or they wanted to design a motor similar to the NEU's. I heard that from Shawn Palmer in summer '06 and another factory engineer I talked with in person at the iHobby show in October '06.
I just wish they'd get the motor done.....they tolsd me the esc was in final testing in fall and was basically a "double" Mamba Maxx, ie. they stacked the FETs for double the capacity.
