Don't forget to factor weight distribution as well as balance. What I mean is; if the batteries, even though they are heavier, are closer to the truck centerline, it can be perfectly balanced with a lighter motor that is mounted further out to the side. If that made any sense. And don't discount the weight of the servo, ESC, and receiver.

IMO, batteries on one side won't make a huge difference unless you want it absolutely perfectly balanced. I'm running 14 NiMH cells on one side on my Revo and you couldn't tell by jumping it.
