Monster Madness V - 06.03.2007, 07:24 PM

Hello,

I know some of you have been to past Monster Madness races and this year there is a change of venue. It's taking place June 22/23/24 (practice/qualify/race) at Wolcott Hobbies in Wolcott CT. There has been an E-Maxx/Electric Open class for all of the last 4 years. Our own Mike Cronin has taken the win two out of the last three years (He may have won the first year too, I wasn't at that one) anyway the powers that be accidentally left the E-Maxx/E-MT class off of the registration forms but they have said they will run the class so long as we can get enough guys there.

I'm making a plea to all of you guys to please try to attend this race if you can. It's a great experience and you will get to rub elbows (and wheels) with some real RC Pro's. It will help open people's eyes to the amazing things we do to keep running electric versions of these trucks. One of the highlights of the race for me last year was when Paul Coleman came up to me after seeing my E-CRT and saying "Jay would really get a kick out of seeing this!"

There is another big race in August at RC Madness - it WAS the old home of the Monster Madness race (magazine politics caused a change of venue) anyway RC Madness is having an "Off-Road Madness" race August 3/4/5 - it would be great to have a good showing at that race too for us E-MT/E-Revo/E-Truggy guys.

I plan to attend both events. I do hope to run my E-CRT with you guys.

Is there going to be a 2WD Electric truck class? I have a recently converted BL RC10GT and would like to start racing it. I have never raced this truck or any rc vehicle before, would this event be to big for a new racer to start at? Should I start at a smaller event?

I don't think there is a 2WD class. In the past, the event has catered to "Monster" trucks (hence the name) though they have muddied the waters with the inclusion of buggies and I do think last year they did run 2WD Nitro trucks. Regardless I would not suggest starting racing at an event like this one, try a local club race. If you are local to CT I'd highly suggest Galli Mods Xtreme in New Milford CT. Every Sunday there is a 2WD Electric Class and a 4WD Buggy Electric Class. The track is very electric friendly.
