Will this be enough? - 06.08.2007, 06:30 PM

I'm contemplating going Li-Po and I wanted to keep my batt budget around 200 per battery max, so I was wondering, will this be enough in my Jammin' with MM and fegiao 8xl? Runtime wise I mean:

The reason I chose not to go the 8000 route is I heard the 5000 cells are better.

Thanks.

The individual 5000 cells are better than the 4000 cells that the 8000 pack is made up of, on an individual basis. That is, comparing them cell to cell, but in the 8000 pack, the 4K cells are wired up in parallel. I think that the 8K packs are great. I've never had any problems with them.

If cost is a concern, you might also want to check out the truerc packs. The aren't the latest and greatest, but the 8000s are great for the price. For little more than the cost of one maxamps pack, you could get two truerc packs.

Thanks. I was looking at them, but I wasn't sure how hey were as I haven't read much on them. Do you think I have to get atleast 2p to get good runtimes?

I have the Truerc 8000's and they seem ok so far (only used them for about 30 minutes) and especially for the price.
They are only rated at 10c though so using then in 1p configuration (4000mah) might be a bit much for them in a 1/8 car. They are also a bit longer and wider than the maxamps and won't fit in most battery trays, but I think they aren't quite as high, just something consider when planning the lay out.
Oh, and I think they make 6400mah packs which have a bit smaller foot print.

Like I said, the truerc packs are just a good bang for the buck, but far from being the best that you can get. I will, however, say this; I believe the truerc packs to be underrated. I run 5S2P 8000mAh packs and they don't even break a sweat.

Due to the relatively low C rating, I'd stick with the packs based on the 4000mAh cells and I'd go for a 2P configuration. So, if you are looking for a 4S pack, I'd go for the 4S2P 8Ah pack. At around $150, they are hard to beat.

Thanks a lot. Do you guys have any links to them? I googled them and checked 3 stores online and couldn't find them.

Also, what about a 4s2p 10aH maxamps pack using the 5aH packs? I saw one on their website for a little over 200.

Thanks a lot.

4S2P 10Ah is going to be a whopper of a battery pack. For the price, I'd look at the 4S1P 10Ah pack.

Try punching truerc.com

Oh, turerc.com, I was trying true-rc.com. Thanks. I didn't know they made a 4s1p 10000 pack? I thought it was like the 8000 where they just put 2 5000's together?

EDIT: Well, I've decided to just go with this if and when I make the plunge:
http://maxamps.com/proddetail.php?pr...10000-148-Pack

You were right AAngel, they are 1p's,a nd the 4s4p truerc pack is only 8800mah for 260 bucks. I'll stay maxamps. Thanks guys.

The only 14.8 volt packs I found were the 75 buck 4000Mah pack and the custom 8800 pack for 260 bucks.

Go to this page:
http://home.comcast.net/~truerc/custompack.htm
Go to the end, and scroll up. The 8000mah packs are the last ones.

Go to custom packs and the 4s2p 8000 packs are 3rd from the bottom.
*edit* Too late
