Thunder King and brushless Baja King (W/Pics) - 08.29.2007, 11:08 AM

Here ya go guys, a little something different. Here are a couple of pics of my MRC Baja and Thunder king. The Thunder king is pretty stock except for a couple of mod motors. It’s a recent Ebay find and in pretty good condition overall. I bought it for parts but when I saw how nice it actually is I’m having a hard time getting myself to take it apart. The Baja is another story. Currently running thunder king tires it has an HV-Maxx 4400 on 14.4 volts. This thing ready to run weights in at 14 lbs. I’ve had the truck together and running for about 6 months now but babied it for the first few months until I found a spare “parts” truck. I’ve been beating on it pretty hard the last month or so and nothing has broke. These things we’re so over built I doubt I’ll ever break anything J The pics aren’t the best. I’ll post better ones later tonight.. Rusty for size reference .

good to see something different. I also dont think you should have many problems with broken parts. I have a thunderking (doesn't get used anymore) and the only thing I recall breaking is the body mounts.

gixxer - Is it an electric or nitro thunder kit? If it's electric would consider selling it ?

It's nice to see people still running these. I have a Baja King that I bought when they were first coming out and recently a Thunder King. It's funny, I was in the same situation as you. I bought the TK on ebay for parts, but when I got it it was literally new, so I couldn't just rip it apart. I set the TK up with a Mtroniks Truck and a 9L on 3s. I didn't want anything too powerful because of the lack of replacement parts. Unfortunately, I destroyed the counter gear somehow, so my old Baja King became a donor. MRC doesn't have gears anymore so I had no other choice really, other than trying to find another one on ebay.

Gee - I have yet to break anything on the Big truck but I am buying up trucks when I come accross them for parts. I killed a steel idler in a rusty once by landing from a minor jump with the throttle wide open. Hope that doesn't happen to that Baja king.

In all the years I had the Baja King I don't think I broke anything either, except for a body mount or 2. I was so surprised when I stripped this gear though on the Thunder King. I really wasn't doing anything special. No jumping or wheelies or anything like that. Maybe the diff was too tight and it just grabbed the wrong way. Now I have it set so the slipper will give before anything really bad happens (I hope).
