Question MM settings for a Neu - 08.30.2007, 10:33 AM

I have been searching for the past 1/2 hour and cannot find the MM settings used for a Neu motor to decrease cogging. I know they have been posted but can't find them. :(

My specific set up is 1515/1y/f, MM, 4s in an E-Maxx.

Thanks!

Here's settings that I got from hippie who got them from Mike:

Tim low
pun 40%
lvc 12.8
bra 40%
sta high
cur liner

That should give you a good start. hippie posted this about the settings in the old forum:

"Good news i tried some new settings that i got from MIKE & after 20 min of running at my house the lipo's were right around 120 - 122 the esc was right around 125 & the motor was only 135- 145. Next steep is to go to the track & test there."

This is with him running 4S Maxamps 8000's, MM w/fan and I believe he had a fan on his Neu also. All installed in a Jammin CRT.

Here's some more temps he posted later:

"the track results were very good in my opinion. It was 89- 90 degress track was dusty. My temps were as follows as follows aftert 20 min of running.

MM 125 - 130
NEU 135 - 150
Lipo's 110 - 115"

Also, if you are looking for any info from the temporary forum, just go to rc-monster.com/tempforum and you should be able to find it.

You're welcome. Let us know how it runs in the E-Maxx.

Just waiting on gears and slippers.
I'll have two different setups to try:

1. 32pitch 52t 15t with stock slipper, friction balls, and heavy duty spring

2. 51t Onfa 14-18t with strobe slipper.

Just a possibility, the 52 tooth 32pitch gear may not be large enough to mesh correctly with the 15 tooth pinion. The motor will most likely touch the side of the tranny before the gears engage each other. I had issues with this when I put my align motor on my emaxx, smallest combo I could use was a 20/66, the align motor is about 42mm across, not sure how big a neu is.

I was a little worried about that. My neu is finned and is 43.8mm across. Was that the smallest that would fit, 54.4 mm?

According to Brians gear calculator your 32p 66t is 54.4mm dia
My 32p 52t is 43.2mm
and a mod1 51t is 53mm dia.

Don't forget to take into account that the mesh where both gears meet removes 1-2mm from the measurement...

I can fit a 52 tooth mod 1 gear and a 16 tooth pinion with the align 600xl. It is 43 mm across. That is the lowest gearing that will fit. Also one side of the tranny will allow the motor to get a little closer than the other, just can't remember which side. I checked at the lhs today, a MGT 52 tooth spur is a direct fit on a stock emaxx slipper. Same internal size hole for the bushing and the pegs look to be the same size as well. Maybe put the complete 12 pegs in and tighten it up good to keep the heat down. I have been using a modified mgt 52 spur on my revo slipper conversion. I had to enlarge the ctr hole to fit the 5x11 bearing and drill out 3 of the peg holes to fit the slipper hub mount bosses. I really like mod1 gears, much stronger and quiter than 32 pitch.

actually it is an old joke. I used to drive a big lincoln town car. We all drank alot in college and I always drove. One night we went to a bar that has an all-you-can-drink-for-5-daollars night. It was called drinkin' with lincoln. Pres lincolns face is on the 5 dollar bill btw. On the way out thre one of the guys remaked that we we pimpin with lincoln, cause the car looked like a 70's pimp ride. So I have used the linc pimp name for a while, just for old times sake. What do you mean by linpin pimp, did one of the hoes get him in the foot?

It is the side without the shifting servo. The tranny is flatter on this side, which is where I put the motor.

That was my plan to try the 52t with 12 balls until I could get a Strobe slipper. I am just thinking from reading these threads that I may get a lot of clogging at a 16 pinion.

Keep in mind that the 52 is bigger than most use. It seems that the 46 kyosho gear is popular and 14-16 pinion. So give it a try, it may work fine. My 600xl with that gearing on 5s thru a roadster 65 quark is ok.
