Sounds like a good idea for those who need a two speed, but how are you going to allow both speeds while retaining motor brake/reverse? Usually, first gear is always engaged via a OWB and when 2nd kicks in, it spins the shaft faster than 1st gear does so the shaft "slips" OWB/1st gear.

And BTW: Mike's current run of hardened pinions don't use a CB...
