BL Savage help - 09.24.2007, 05:10 PM

Right the time has come so here I am...

I want to convert my Sav 25 to brushless as I really can't be bothered with nitro any more.

I've read a few threads and have settled on a 9XL running on either 14/16 cells but I'm yet undecided on what ESC to use.

As for the mount, I've been told Mike from here makes them for the motor so chances are I'll be going with one of those, and I'll have to have a look around to see the best way to mount the batteries.

This is basically how far I've got, so any guidance is more than welcome.

Thanks in advance guys, and you have a wicked forum.

All the best,

Stu

To keep it rather low budget, I would recommend the warrior 9920. With a fan installed it's a tough and cheap option.

Welcome to the forum btw!

You also need a UBEC (external BEC btw)

I take it I'll need to disable the BEC on the warrior to use the UBEC, I'll have to search the site and see if there's any info about it... I'm sure there is!

As for the fan, what type of fan do you recommend and how do you wire them in? I did try searching but to no avail.

Cheers for the help so far Serum, much appreciated.

Stu

A simple 40X40 fan would do. Sorry for the late reply btw..

Here is a little more info on the 9920;

Ah, another Brit on the forum, my take-over plans are going well....

Welcome Stu, you will tons of useful info on the forum & the guys around here are really helpful & knowledgeable too. You might want to take a look at Serum's Picasaweb album for some inspiration on the Savage front, he-da-man in that respect:

For battery mounting I'm considering mounting some electronics boxes on the sides of my truck. They are cheap provide plenty of protection and are easily padded to the size or the battery you are using. Finding one that is close to the right size is a bit of a challenge though.

Tim; If you can swing it, Mike can make you a centerdiff conversion for a savage with an FLM ext chassis.

Thanks Serum, You don't happen to have a pic of one do you? I'm tempted as I assume this would include motor mount. I have the stock length flm chassis at the moment but i'm thinking I will move this to my nitro savage and get an extended chassis as this will allow me to use a bigger body won't it. I think I am going to need a bit more space in between the body and the chassis for the batteries then the stock size bodies provides.

Sorry to hijack your thread Stumungous

It will be a skid/motormount/bulk (for the other side of the diff) two rodds that connect them together, FLM servo mount, and a batterytray that would fit in the rear. (between the TVP's.)

I just sent Mike an e-mail about this. He sent me an e-mail a while ago suggesting this would be a good idea. He said it may be possible to mount the a 5s lipo between the chassis too. I'm starting to like this idea a lot.
