Wich Neu for revo -
10.07.2007, 09:56 AM
1515, 1Y or 1515, 1.5D?
I'll running it with MM controler, i know, probably have cogging but want to give it a try, and if the MM blow, i'll ordre an TMM 16018.
But just don't know if i'll take the 1Y or 1.5D
1Y with 14t pinion have same speed that the 1.5D with 18 pinion, and i've this 2 pinion here, so wich one wil give me the better runtime and smoothest ride.

Hey, just read that some people run the 1512 ,2.5d in a monster truck like revo
Is this 1512 motor would be better in a revo?

I think the 1515 would do best in a Revo, however, it all comes down to personal preference, how much power you want, and if you race or not.
BTW - You mixed up the pinions in your first post. The 1.5d is 2700KV, so you would want the 14t pinion with it, and the 18t pinion with the 1y (2200KV) motor.
I would personally go with the 1y. I think it will run cooler, have more torque, and will have a greater chance of working with the MM ESC.

Well, I wouldn't say that anymore Jnev.... AAngel is running a 1515/2.5D on 6s lipo and he says it's running very cool, which I have found to be true as well for Neu's. They seem to like the higher rpm's along with a lighter load, which all motors "should" like, but motors such as feigao's do not have a segmented rotor, so they can't handle low loads/higher rpm's as well as the higher end motors.
I am running a 1512/3D (1700kv) on 23volts, and it runs quite cool, geared for 47mph, it gets up to 150F on a warm summer day. But, I am thinking I want a 1515 motor now, to give it a try.
So if anyone wants a 1512/3D Neu, or wants to do a trade up for a 1515/2.5D, send me a PM.

Oh, well if you have a specified cell count you will use (4s lipo), then go for the 1Y Neu, the 2.5D will be too slow on 4s.
I use the Quark controller... modified as a 'beast' controller, capable of probably running a small Honda Civic. Check out my sig. for the link.

I too think a 1512 will be enough. Pick a wind that will hit around 40k rpm with the voltage you are using and gear approriately for the speed you want. Like ZPB said, these motors don't mind higher RPMs at all.

Yeah, you can go for a 1512 for sure... you want to hit 40,000rpm at least to bring out the power on it, I agree.
My setup hits ~39,000rpm, and it probably has the power of an 7XL on 4s lipo, although, less powerful than a 7XL on 5s2p A123.

david - in the first post, you wrote 1.5d instead of 2.5d, which is what confused me... I thought we were talking about the 2700Kv motor, not the 1700KV motor.
