i think they have a good mix of old and new parts. rpm suspension etc still usable. transmission, steering, chassis, diffs upgraded.
thats more or less exactly what i thought. i was very near to buy a t maxx 2.5r and convert it to a single speed lightweight plastic e maxx. but now i think this strategy has become just useless.

I see they upgraded the diffs but it still looks like they are using the old style bulk heads. If they are then i think they would have to use different diff cases.

No idea on cost, but it would make for an interesting guessing game- my guess is about $400. As for the motor mount- I too thick its looks abit wonky, but with the optional single motor plate & cover installed it does make for a nice clean setup, plenty of room for a stonking greatbig motor behind the tranny. I wonder, will the new E-Revo have a simialr type chassis?... the battery hold-downs and general chassis layout would seem compatible more or less.

The tranny with the single motor plate on it would be great for a revo conversion, plus the center driveshafts seem to be similar to the revo ones, so modifications may not be necessary to make it fit. Not sure how the new tranny mounts, but it seems to be similar sized to the old emaxx tranny. can't wait to get one of these new emaxxs, looks cool to me!

all in all I think its a very good upgrade to the current maxx. The diffs, single speed and dual servo setup are nice. I think they will sell a lot of them just not to many of us with converted revo's and truggies.

Yeah I don't see too many hardcore ERevo people switching. should be interesting to see tho how this pans out vs Tekno's Revo conversion kit. The Emaxx1.5 will still sell more undoubtedly as its factory and cheaper than a converted Revo, but its still bash oriented. The Revo will still be the king racer.

Does anyone else think this will kill the chances for an ERevo anytime in the near future? The 1/8 E market is not that big yet, so I don't see a whole lot of push to get one out. The big thing about the Revo is being race worthy, but a titan setup would be not be up to it, and the VXL Revo would be even more expensive. IE I think RCM and Tekno are going to be safe for a while w/ Revo conversions.

Must say tho, the Emaxx1.5 + FLM 1/8th bulks would make a great almost-outta-the-box basher.

I dont thisnk this kills the chances for an E-Revo at all. If you think about it logically they have a nitro maxx and a nitro revo. If they didnt upgrade the Emaxx and went straight to the E-Revo it would have totally killed the emaxx. this way they get to keep both platforms.

i actuall find it interesting that the new Emaxx has so many revo parts on it. Makes it easy to transition to the revo IMO. I think someone mentioned earlier wondering if the new tranny would bolt up to the revo chassis. If it does, there is your first sign that the e-revo is not to far away.

That would definitely be an awesome upgrade to add if it fits.

It looks pretty good. Most of the upgrades were very thoughtful. The main thing I like about it is that it is waterproof. If I was to buy it, that would be the only/main reason. I would just use it as a vacation car for when I go to the mountains. Now you just have to worry about the battery connectors getting wet...

I am still awaiting the E-Revo and 4s/5s/6s BL system though, which IMO will be the greatest hits for the public.

I vote Mike should make a new V4? slipperential for the new Emaxx- plenty of room with the new chassis layout me thinks.... (not like he has anything else to do).

"FYI to everyone,

The new differentials are not 100% stock swapped Revo differentials. They are beefed up with new internals and steel internal bracing, and will undeniably support the power of brushless systems. A nice feature of these is that they are backwards compatible with T-Maxx 3.3 and Revo trucks. The center driveshafts are beefed up and will also support the power. Both of these, and all other potential weakpoints have been extensively tested and proven.

The transmission is more compact and almost 2.5 times as strong as the previous E-Maxx design.

The V-Twin Concept setup is treated as a single ESC/Motor system electronically.

The body is a new version and while featuring similar overal features, is a new design."

How does a dual feigao 10l and mm system sound. Run it on a pair of 4000 4s lipos and it would scream. Even a pair of 12s motors on 3s might work, as long as the new emaxx is light enough. I know that one high end motor would be better, but I have all of the necessary parts save for the 2nd motor.

I personally think its a good idea to upgrade the Maxx, and hopefully a Revo isn't far behind. I think I'll be getting one of those trannys soon. It really shows Traxxas is paying attention to the after-market community. Such as the extended chassis, cam type servo saver, single speed tranny, metal tranny gears, etc.
