hybrid diff>>1/8th gears that don't fit. -

i just recieved these and had planned on using some gears i already had since its suspected that most (key word) 1/8th gears sets should fit. mine don't come close. the case is about 1/2" from closing around the gear set and the larger tooth gear rubs the inside of the case. i thought it would be nice to make a list for future buyers as to which gears won't fit. i know its easier just to go with whats recomended and get the hot bodies gear set, but myself and i'm sure plenty others will try something else if they think they can save a few $$ on an upgrade.
gs storm/sut gears will not work with these hybrid bulks.
Hmm, thats disappointing. In theory you'd think most, if not all, 1/8 diffs would fit 1/8 'cases'. I wonder if UE/FLM designed their cases to specifically fit certain diffs? All I know is HB diffs are a direct fit, but beyond that its all guessing games.....
Kyosho cup + internal gear + cross pin + ring gear is a direct replacement for HB diff.
I know because when i've my LSP, i explode the rear diff on the breakin-in, and a friend of me tell me that's the only thing to do to bullet proof the weak HB diff is to put the Kyosho diff cup and internal gear.
That's what i've done and no more problems.
And i've just recieve my RCM V1 hybrid diff for my revo and when this HB diff will died, i'll build it with Kyosho stuff.
If you are using the harderned gear HB diffs you will not have any problems. They are as tough as they get. Ive been running them in my revo for quite some time now and they are all good.
I can't decide if its more fun

Yes. The ones that come with the RCM Revo Hybrid Diffs are hardend. Just try and tear them up. I was blowing stock revo diffs almost every time I ran the truck untill I got this upgrade. Havent had an ussie since. Only thing I ever did was take them apart to change diff fluids and inspect. They still looked new after months of abuse. Best upgrade ever for the revo IMO.

Hey jhautz, which grade of diff fluid you use in your front and rear V1 diff?? I've mine in hand now and the only thing i have to do before closing it is put fluid in it. I was thinking about 7000 front and 5000 rear. What do you think of that???
Other thing, with which type of grease did you lube your pinion/ring gear??
I just used some gear lube grease that came with one of my kits. Just enough to coat all of the gears. More than that just makes a mess and it flys off of the gears. I know people who just use standard white lithium grease.

i had alway thought people used the thicker lube in the rear. i just picked up some 5k and 7k planing to use the 7k in the back. somebody chime in if i'm going backwards with my lubes.
