What exactly is this adapter? I don't really understand what it does, or what it even looks like... Do you need it if you run a Lehner? Do you need it for other motors as well?
This adapter will allow you to fit a motor without a 25mm screw pattern (25mm = distance between mounting holes on a 540 motor) to a mount that has a 25mm screw pattern. The KB45 motor has a 30mm screw pattern and uses 4mm screws, so an adapater for the KB45 would allow it to mount up to, let's say an E-Maxx motor mount that uses a 25mm screw pattern and 3mm screws.
squee, the KB45 motors have screwed-on endbells. I talked to a guy who said his unscrewed very easily (so he took measures to keep it tight), but my KB45 10XL will not let its front endbell come loose. I've tried a grip wrench (rubber strap wrench) and a plate held in the vice attached to the front endbell by 4 screws, and I would've broken the grip wrench if I were to have used any more strength.

thanks for reminding me why i hate nitro cars all that noise and no go worth a toss.
I could see you were struggling with the brakes in the video as you mentioned i wonder why the stock brakes are so naff is the car heavier than nitro form?
Also what servo are you using for brakes perhaps you need one that has more torque.

The brake servo is an airtronics 94758 digital (115oz) so it should have plenty of torque. When the brakes are cool and fresh it can lock the tires up easily, but after only a couple hard stops they heat up and fade to the point of being useless. They get so hot when I picked it up to check what was going on I could smell them burning.
The car is ever so slightly heavier than the the nitro form. But not much at all. The guy whos body I was borrowing runs his DM-1 nitro and we were comparing the weight of the 2 by holding one in each hand. We concluded that my electric was heavier, but it was so slight it was very difficult to tell by comparison. Couldn't be more than a few ounces different. He has the same problem with brake fade on his also so I think its just a function of trying to have a single disk do all of the work to stop that thing. Buggies have 2 disks and truggies typically have 4. This probably weighs about the same as a typical buggy. I think if I upgrade to a 2 disk setup I should be OK.

Thanks Metalman. I'm really thinking of getting one of these for my BPP LSP. Only thing is, I don't know if it will fit between the braces. I know a XL will...How much bigger than a XL is it? Diameter wise.

I had to cut a peice of the brace out. Even the Neu 15 sereis finned can't fit . I'll take some pictures leter today to show you how close the fit is.
any updates on this, jeff? i'm watching this thread eagerly... i'm not a on road car guy, but my LHS does have an indoor track...although i don't think it's 1/8 scale. but it'd be fun to practice there! your car is just plain wicked...
Its finished and I did get it out for a couple evenings of parking lot oval racing before the weather got way to cold. It was still cold out so the tires werent holding the pavement that well. the most fun part was the speed runs. Its a huge lot where we race so I was able to really open it up. I had my 1/8 buggy up to 60mph and this thing was way faster. no radar or GPS yet, but I'll get GPS onit in the spring. It was so fast I was almost afraid to totally open it up. I dont think I really ever got it to top speed. I'll wait untill sping and warmer temps so the tires have better grip. As for the oval racing its almost to fast. I had a hard time keeping the back end in line with the cold temps and poor tire grip. I let it get out of line the first night I had it out and wound up clipping a concrete pole at 30-35 mph. It really sucked. Turned out all the broke was the rear hub carier and I bent the rear CVD and blew out one rear bearing. I was able to straighten the bone and the rest was thankfully only a $11 fix with shipping.
Fixed it and had it one more time on a relatively nice night (40 degress F ) This time I got a chance to put some laps in and I gotta say I think I really like it. It absolutely ripps. It takes a lot of thottle controll and take a very diferent driving style to get it around the corners quickly, but once I got the hang of it I had it really turning some fast laps. Nobody was keeping up. I really liked the 2 speed. On the straight, it was like a little turbo boost kicking in and it just lurched when it hit 2nd gear. Once spring hits I'll start working on tuning the suspension to get it right and dial it in. Is still box stock setup and I'm sure it will be able to be tuned for much more consistant performance.
Anyway... nobody really want to read all this blather. Here are the finished pictures. Sorry no more vid. I broke it the first time I brought it out and didnt get any, and then forgot the camera the other time.
