Those Poor FET's - 11.01.2007, 08:51 PM

Well today, I took this setup outside for a spin. I ran for about ten minutes. I jumped my dirt pile, landed good, then at a stand still, I nailed reverse. That's when the white smoke came out. I've heard things don't work good after that smoke escapes. Now I know!

It seems to me that the brain board portion of this esc stills works fine. It chimes and arms perfectly, but no action in forward or reverse.

I opened it. Here's what I found.

It looks to me like there are 3 sets of FET's for forward and 2 sets for reverse.
It didn't thermal at all. I figure the overload heat didn't have time to make it to the thermistor before meltdown.

Here's what I'm wondering. Can I build a new power card for this and operate it with the brain from this one?
I have just opened up an AC motor drive that is rated at 600amps @ 36 volts in search of monster FET's. Here's what I found. Can anyone help me identify them and find some specs?

The number shown is:
75545P
N236
A1

This is one that I accidently pried on during the opening. The rest of them are in perfect condition. There are 20 of these powering each leg of the 3 phase. (60 total) Hmmmm........

If I stay within the original Voltage specs for the Quark, Can I put together a Car Controller that will do 200 or 300 amps? (with proper heat sinking, cooling)

I believe these FET's are rated at 30 amps each, but I would love to find the spec sheet for them.

I think the Quark Brain Board can be used to power the Gate leads for the fets on the new power board.

Then provide new much heavier power leads for the FET's to draw current through.

Thoughts?

Smile I found the spec sheet on these FETS - 11.01.2007, 09:18 PM

I found the spec sheet.

Looks like the absolute max ratings are 75A, 80V, 0.010 Ohm, N-Channel, UltraFET Power MOSFET

Hmmmm........
