Neu 15xx motor and stampede gearing - 11.01.2007, 05:52 PM

Am I the only person that can't get a decent gear combo in my stampede with a 15 series neumotor? What combos have you fellas found that actually meshed? Even a 90/14 wont touch. I figured this would be a problem. It was a finned case that I ground the fins off of half.

I take it you're using 48P gears and not M1? A 90T M1 would be huge! How close it is to meshing? What wind is your motor? You can gear those motors quite high as they have tons of torque available. Especially for a "small" MT like the Stampede.

I want to use a 15xx in my Rustler but I'm also worried about having gear ratio selections be limited by meshing ability, more so than with 540 size motors. I wouldn't use a finned Neu, but do you have any pictures of your setup?

Yes, 48p gears. It is a good .5mm to meshing, more then the tooth depth. I am using the 1506 2d.

If you only lack .5mm to meshing, why not try a larger pinion, maybe 16t or 18t?

Hey John, you need to switch over to the jato .8 mod spurs. I am assuming that you have the xl5 slipper , which will bolt right up to the jato spur. The 58t gear works well and should give you some extra room. If not a mgt 46 tooth mod1 spur can be made to work and will clear most outdrives. Do you have an 1/8 or 5mm shaft? The emaxx 32p pinions will work with the jato .8 mod spurs if using 1/8" shaft, or buy 5mm pinions from mike here at rcm.

A 1506 will turn 48P pinions into shreds in seconds...
