Revo top speed - 11.02.2007, 05:51 PM

I used the speed calculator using the stock revo specs and plugging in the motor combo kit I purchased and it said a top speed 20+ mph Can some one tell me if I did something wrong. These are the components of the kit Neu 1515/1y/f motor, the mamba max esc, and maxamps 4s2p 6000 battery pack.

Did you put in the correct diff ratio, tranny ratio, gearing, tire size, etc?

I used the preset revo ratio's, the tire spec and weight from traxxas. And I varied the clutch bell and spur gear teeth count. with no big change from either

Make sure you enter total tire size, not rim size. Also, are you using the Revo tranny first gear value or second gear value?

Since I planned on leaving it a 2 speed for now I tried both values.

Well, if I enter values, I get ~32mph. That's with Revo diffs, 2nd gear (std ratio) tranny, 40T spur, 15T pinion, and 5.65" for the tire size.

If using the 2 speed tranny, you can get more aggressive on the spur/pinion (like 36/16) since 1st gear will give you the grunt. Also, for 4s, I would go with a 1512 2d instead, especially since you're keeping the 2 speed (but that motor will easily work with 2nd gear only).

Thanks I must have been doing something wrong. I probably will single speed the trans, but this is all new to me and I plan on taking a step at a time. I usually jump head first into projects and then end up walking away when it gets over my head.

No kidding! Sometimes I get disgusted with a project and let it sit for a while, but after taking one of my other vehicles out to play, I just HAVE to get the other working!

Just read around the other threads (check out the Revo tranny stickie) so you can at least know all the advantages/disadvantages before you spend money on stuff. Basically, learn from others' mistakes.
