Maxximum or Big Maxximum in a buggy? - 11.18.2007, 05:11 AM

Hi, I'm thinking of building a buggy on 4s1p lipo, mabma max + cc bec, and a plettenberg.

I want the buggy to have good runtime and insane tourque, so should I got for the maxximum(3000 kv) or the big maxximum(2300 kv)?

Well, the problem with the plettenberg motors is their availability in the US, another problem with them is their KV ratings; and here is the deal;

For your buggy you'll have more than enough power/torque from the maxximum. But its KV is too high for my likings. It could work, but it might be a hot setup.

The bigmaxximum on the other hand is more suitable in terms of KV, but it's simple over powering a buggy. It can toss around a 7 kg heavy savage with authority and constant wheelspin.

Did you considered a Neu motor? they come in a larger variety of KV and sizes. and they are broadly available in the US. Though they might not look as nice as the plettenbergs (if you fancy blue).

Thanks,

Thing is, I don't live in the US, I live in Sweden so getting a Plettenberg is no problem. I've had a buggy before with a Feigao 7XL, but this time I want quality.

I've thought about the NEUs, but I really like the cooling solution of the Plettenbergs, bet it will make a sweet sound as well. :) And "everyone" is getting a NEU so I wane be different. ;)

But as you, I don't like the 3000kv of the maxximum, I'm afraid it will create to high amp peaks, if I plug the trigger ... and I have a kind of aggressive driving style. ;) So I'm thinking the Big maxximum maybe the better choice? or will it feel to clumsy to drive in a buggy?

And about the efficiency? At 4 cells the maxximum have better efficiency then the big maxximum, so will the maxximum run cooler/longer?

Yeah, go for the bigmaxx.

I think their efficiency will be about the same. You an get a 2200 kv maxximum, you need to order it from plettenberg, but there is no warrantee on it..

I would go for the bigmaxximum on 4S. It will run relative cool and if you want a blast, go for 5S..
