Best Truggy Servo - 11.25.2007, 11:12 AM

Here ya go, this may help a little. Seems like the Hitec 5955TG won. http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...t=truggy+servo

I use:

JR DS8711 (highest torque)

or

JR Z9000T (smoothest-IMO)

or

HiTec 5995TG (happy medium and probably best for Losi 8ight-IMO) Also Tower Hobbies now has a copycat version of this servo that looks promising. Normally I won't even consider their products, but this one doesn't look bad: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...7&I=L37024&P=K

All are overkill for torque.

Better overkill than on limit!
I have servo Airtronics 94359Z took it from buggy and put it to truggy once i felt that servo start to heat up and then its heating its going slow. I thought that time is come to this servo, took it apart and took motor also apart and i seen that collector was burned, i polished with thin sandpaper and cleaned it assembled again and now again like new. Burned collector is sign that servo works on limit. So I put it back on buggy and bought Hitec 5955TG for truggy and no any issues on 1.5year.

yeah and dont forget to buy bunch of Fuse Gears (only one nylon gear inside)

Personaly i never used Futaba but saw lots of race interruptions in case of Servo Fail and it was stupid Fuse Gear.

I like the JR DS8711 and the Hitec 5990TG both make over 400 oz, I am not sure which will turn out to be my favorite.

Once upon a time I used Futaba servos until 2 of them went out on me. Since then I have switched to Hitec and no problems yet.

i have always used hitec servos (numerous 645mg's, and my current 5955tg) but just lost my first 645mg. it was on my crawler, and i don't believe i had the EPAs adjusted properly (surprised i didn't lose the other one on there).

the 5955 is an absolute beast, esp. when fed 6 volts. i'm using that on my eXT8.

Xray XT8 (Neu powered) MMM on 5s
MD 500 scale heli - castle HV-45 on 3s
Eflite Blade 400 heli on 3s

well i will agree that hitec has come a long way they do make some really good servos. but i do think that alot of servo problems are because people dont set there end points an travel.

I am using a JR Z9100T in my Revo and it works very well, super fast and can turn the truck if you hold the front wheels!

I run it and a futaba 3050 (for brakes) in my tekno converted revo with a ccbec set for 6.5 volts! Neither servo even gets warm, so I can recommend both for use at 6.5v.

I will say that the JR is alot quieter than my hitec 5997 that is in my LSP. I have witnessed the "knock off" servo that sspconcepts was talking about and it works as well as the hitec it is based on, only maybe a little louder!

I have had excellent success with futaba servos, both their brand and the ones they relabel for other companies. However I have never used a servo that did not have enough torque for the job!
