It just plugs into the rx but the other wires you solder to the battery wires of your esc. Here, check out this link, very handy, and it helps to visualize.

wow thanks extremely helpful. feigao 540L motor? that good enoug hor you think the XL is a necesity?

Go with the XL, the extra torque is great and will really help to move the truck around.
