I'm in! - 12.05.2007, 07:34 PM

I've been trying to get logged on for a while now, thanks Mike.

Now that I'm here, I want to show you guys some pics of my latest conversion.

This is my Crt.5. I ran it at the track on 2s and it was already too fast. I just got the Neu 3s and it blew the tires off beadlock rims. I know I'll need to upgrade the MM motor, I'm open to suggestions as to which motor to get. Unfortunately, we have snow on the ground so its going to be a while before I can do some high speed runs.

The pinion for my Hyper7 converion came in with the battery so I'll have that one finished this week too! MM, Maxamps 4s, feigao8xl.

Those tires are 2.2 Buggy Dirt Hawgs.

Looks pretty good! I would say ditch the MM motor and go with something like a Feigao 8L (kv is 3000).

SH Z-Car, Custom Crawler, 8s Savage, 12s XTM XLB 1/7 buggy, 4wd 4-link rear/IFS Pro4 truck, Custom Hyper 10 Short Course, Belt-Drive Mammoth ST 1/8 truggy, 4s 17.5 MM Pro HPI Blitz

the problem with dirthawg tires is that there not very low profile which makes them mess with the handling of buggys somewhat.
The tire also squirms about a lot and i have noticed lately that prolines tyres have been getting worse when it comes to fitting them onto rims.

For offroad they need some modification to get the best grip in loose stuff.

I was trying to work out why they were getting really bad grip in comparison to my geolander tyres for my xxxt and i came to the conclusion there there is no enough space between the lugs to allow them to sink into the dirt or whatever unlike the geolanders.

So i removed an even number of the lugs from the tyres and the result was a lot better grip on a variety of surfaces.
I have no doubt that wear will be increased but here is what my prolines now look like on my xxcr

Beadlocks - 12.05.2007, 10:41 PM

As far as I can see, the Axial beadlocks will work with any 2.2 tire as long as it uses a proline style bead. I have been running the Dirthawgs on several cars and I've been really happy with them, soft and grippy. I think that any high power application will probably still need at least a little glue on the bead. Two of mine have come off but only at extreme RPM.

Amazing how the flash freezes those tyres so sharp! They look like 70-series tyres on an old sedan.
