What Pinion/pitch to use? with brushless CRT.5 ? - 12.14.2007, 01:51 PM

I'm doing a brushless coversion with a crt.5. I will be using a MM5700 motor. What pitch/size pinion do I need? Does RCM carry it?

Thanks

You can use brians calculator - see sticky but i would start with something in the 12-14T range - You need a mod 1 pinion.

I would just get a 5mm pinion and use the 5mm to 3.125mm adapter that way you can use the pinion on other projects.

PS i used the 4600 for a while with no issues but some say that is too hot so just what the temps on the 5700.

Rgds

I would go no higher than 12T with that motor. I'm using that pinion with the 4600 motor on 2s and I think it gets too hot when it is warm outside. The 5700 will just be hotter, but you might find it acceptable as I am kinda funny about anything over 130*F...

I'm going to use one of those piggy back heatsink fans, maybe that will help the heat especially that I will be using 11.1 3S

I actually was using the clip-on fins. On 3s, I would go to a motor with a kv of about 3500 or 4000. The 5700 is gonna be really fast on 3s. maybe you could go to a 10T pinion then (if available)?
