Hmm, I don't know what to think about this.
On one hand, it's nice to see the hobby becoming more accessible (price-wise and store availability) to the average "non-hobbyist".
OTOH, I can see the same non-hobbyist having tons of issues with a nitro powered car. Things from running too lean, using gas or gas/oil mix instead of nitro, etc. Also, if the price is too cheap, durability may suffer and the same person may get tired of replacing broken parts and actually get turned off from the hobby.
IMO, entry-level R/C should be electric because they are far more simple to operate and maintain, and are cheaper to buy (using brushed motors of course). Once the person gets hooked, they can move up to a true hobby-class R/C and get a more powerful BL, or nitro, vehicle.

I like Brian's route - I did extactly that 13 months ago I picked up an XL5 pede and learnt loads from that...
Then I picked up a Revo 2.5 and did the nitro thing but too noisy in the neighborhood so looked at brushless...
Converted my pede and rustlers to MM and that lasted me until the summer before I got the itch for an e-revo...
Now I have also converted a dettam MBX5S and X1-CR to brushless... Jumpin in at nitro would have been very daunting.

I started from an E-maxx myself... only reason I leaned towards brushless was because I spent so much money on Sub-C batteries and was looking for an alternative.. then.. I saw one of ProMod's videos.. from then on.... good stuff... but maybe it's a lower maintenance nitro?.. who knows.... maybe they start from this cheapo.. and if see's other peoples faster nitro/electric and may want to move on to something faster... atleast it's better to have some people try it out... then none right.. :) and you're absolutely right, it's not for everybody..
Actually they're not that cheap.... Canadian tire should just sell Traxxas Pedes, Rusty, and bandits..

i had two nitro cars before I got my first electric, a savage 21 and a nitro 4-tec(2.5) and i never even got to work on the savage because i could never figure the damn thing out so i always had help from the hobby shop. after a few years i ended up selling it for my e rustler...

HEH HEH, convert the ricochet to brushles!!!
Is it 4wd or 2wd? Looks to be 2wd and it does not appear to have any suspension either.
