here's an unedited short vid of my maxx - 12.29.2007, 12:58 AM

i got it up and running and decided to get a few video clips of it today to start a compilation. this ones unedited and you'll hear my front diff give out in the vid. i knew i should have went hardened diffs on the front too. anyway its short and not that good, but its the first vid i made of my rc's in over a year.

That's an awesome E maxx!

You've got some really good acceleration there. Sounds like that slipper is working overtime.

What was your pinion choice with the KB45 and how did you make it fit?

i ground the pinion down to fit 5mm pinions. the acceleration is actually worse than it was before i killed my bk with some water. now i have the mgm160 in there and i lost alot of power off the line. i haven't played much with the settings yet so i'm sure i can get it better. i used to get wheelies anytime until pretty much topped out. now it pulls them everyonce in a while, mostly about half way through its pass to full speed.

you know after thinking about it, i noticed i was getting more wobble out of the spur gear. i bet my slipper is giving and thats where some of my acceleration has gone. i look into that tomorrow.

How did you grind the shaft down? Start the motor and use a file on it? Just wondering, cause I know that's some pretty hard steel.

I can tell your slipper is slipping alot. I just thought you had it set pretty loose.

i used to have it set as tight as i could, but it may have finially gave some. i used a, i mean several stone bits and a dremel. just like you're thinking, i clamped the motor down all hooked up, then ran it while i ground away at it. it took a while, but it wasn't really that bad, just noisy. im thinking about getting another kb and doing the same for my 1/8 yusa rally project.

Wow, Very Nice Setup!

Congrats on the build.

What kind of spur/slipper is that?

I have quite a few of those KB45s, the power from them is just awesome... now all we need to do is find some replacement bearings from them... just secure the cans.. I had two of them pop on me.. luckily there was no damage... and by the way, nice video...

Stock Slipper!? I'm surprised you haven't melted the middle out of that yet. LOL I've seen it happen before.

@Aqwut - Do you know what size the bearings are? I dare you to challenge me on finding them. Give me the dimensions in mm. Like 6x14.4mm If you already have one apart that is. Check both the front and the back bearings, they could be different. Not likely, but anyways.

i got the new slipper on there and it is alot better. i'm starting to like this esc. i'm getting more power to the motor now. top speed seems alot higher. i've been trying to get footage, but i'm recording on a 128mb sd card so i run out of room really fast. also i haven't been able to get top speed yet. i cant seem to hold it on the road. these road rages stretch and walk all over the place, and then at a certain speed im getting air under the truck or the esc's got a boost in power because the truck rolls over backwards. i'm really trying to get it recorded, but like i said with record time and the fact that i'm now exhausting my batteries in just over 5min. i ran out of steam before i knew it. i'll try to get it after the charge is done. stay tuned!

i wish i had an eagletree or what ever it is to record my amp drawl so i could report what this setup is putting out. i'm dumping over 4000mah in just over 5min bashing

also, does this look right? i haven't learned the speed chart well so i'm asking if i'm seeing it correctly. i put in my values and put 1.5inch tire growth. i don't know how many amps i'm pulling so i put 100 there. i thought i geared for 40mph, but i didn't ever look at tire stretch. i know that final mph is without wind/drivetrain resistance.

The numbers look okay to me. Im suprized though, surely the motor cant be pulling that many amps, especially given the battery setup? Im sure a feigao with the same kv rating would last a lot longer, going by other people's experiences if nothing else- you kb45 is a hungry beast it seems...

i found out my last run that i had a solder joint come loose and i only spent half of one of the batteries. my numbers are off as far as drain rate. i did another attempt, but i'm not getting the same traction as i was now that the sun's going down. i didn't get the front end pulling over on video. i don't think i'll be attempting to shoot anymore high speed runs off my road with this truck anymore. its too hard to hold straight. i did catch video of me clipping the mail box at very high speed. it broke the steering rod end and steering link. i couldn't steer the truck back to me, but that impact shows how good rpm and flm stuff is. i'm sure a stock truck would have had much more damage.

heres what i got. i don't even know if i got the batteries warmed up yet by the time i wrecked.
