electric.... monster aliens?? - 12.31.2007, 02:05 AM

i was at my parents this past holiday (in Michigan), and they told me of these 'electric monster aliens'. well, that's what i call them. turns out there are 32 windmills all part of an electric wind farm... which has the potential to produce 53 megawats! these suckers are enormous - somewhere around 400 feet tall. it was a surreal experience, to be sure. all i kept thinking was 'mercedes'... i guess my Freudian slip was showing. here's a small news clip.

we drove about an hour north of where my parents live to see them, and i brought my camera. here there be monsters...

that would be amazing to see hundreds! the 32 i saw were over probably about 4-6 miles, and i guess there are plans to put a lot more of them in. i've never seen anything so bizarre and alien... and HUGE... as these things. look how small the power lines look... and in both shots, the lines are about 200-300 feet in front of the closest windmill!

here are a couple other pics i cleaned up.

The annoying thing is the british government wants to build loads of wind farms here to; they neglect to realize that they only work when its windy, which means they are about 30% efficient at making electricity in real terms. Nuclear energy dosnt need wind to work, and only produces a harmless drum of toxic waste that can be buried at the bottom of the north sea, out of harms way....

They do look really scary though, those windmills.

You need to stick a windmill in your back garden, generate your own electric; or one in front of the wifes mouth.... (all that hot air & gas coming out).

Not too sure if I would put a windmill in front of the wife's mouth, battery technology is not up to par yet, it would need a 20c CHARGE rate!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I feel your pain Neil, I may have got the last decent wife in stock here, all of my friends are trying to return theirs for some reason or another. And that sucks since there is a 50% restock fee, 50% of everything!

*Ouch* I hear that, but it works both ways desnt it? Maybe I should find some rich, lonely old lady, marry her, live with her for a year, spending her money, then get a divorce- or wait for her to snuff it and get my hands on everything.... nah.
