ok I am wondering if these LIPOs would be good for my V-twin maxx that Im building http://cgi.ebay.com/11-1V-12C-5000mA...QQcmdZViewItem I am running 2 vxl setups on my max with stock gearing I dont plan on gearing for speed just bashing around the parks where I live........I know the amp rating is low only 12c constant but I dont think the vxl systems will draw serious amps...plus its these packs or my 7 cell ib 4200s I dont have $300 just for 1 set of maxamps 3s lipos .....so help me out here which is better
I was looking at these also, but I decided against them for safteys sake. I would hate to see my brand new E-Maxx catch on fire, so I bit the bullet and bought Maxamps.
So how did you setup two VXL3's to work together? From all of the chatter on the net if you simply pair them up eith a "Y" connector, and one thermals, it will automatically smoke the other controller. What is the secret, or have you not heard about this? I wanted to do the same thing, but have already heard horror stories about this setup. Any imputs??
If a LIPO goes below the recommended voltage can it be saved? How do you get the voltage back up to normal without smoking it? I am just starting into the LIPO phase with RC and I am learning. I have a Superbrain 989 and an LBA10 balancer, but have not used them yet. The hook up is simple enough, but setting up the charger is not so easy if you have never done it before. I am just trying to figure all of this out. I think one of my brand new packs has already gone below 3volts. Assistance please??

I haven't heard that, but I haven't thermaled either. All I did was use a y-harness and take one of the red wires out of one speed control. maybe that's why the ports are connected on the v-twin Traxxas did.
Its all rather experimental. The VXL escs are much better with built in safety features, so if one esc shuts down, it is unlikely that the other will suddenly die and burst into flames- you would notice the sudden drop in power & speed so can shut it down.
Yeh apparently in the post that I read one of the controllers had to have the control board disconnected so that one board ran both controllers. There was a lot of discussion about Traxxas comming up with a solution of sorts to remedy the issue. After all they have a prototype that seems to work fine for them, so they must have figured something out. Do you use the fans on the ESC's to keep things cool, or are they running just fine as is?

This is what I'm counting on. Hopefully there won't be any surprises. No, I don't have fans yet.
How about a pair of these: proteck lipos? In my opinion 12c at 5000mah is too low. Those vxl systems can easily pull 100amps, even on 3s lipo. And the maxx truck will load those motors, even with two of them.
I saw those to, but I don't think they'll fit. My Maxamps battery is 26mms tall and it's close to the motor mount. It looks like 30mms will be an extremely tight fit.
I have ran some 16c 3cell in my vtwin emaxx they work fine I didnt notice any problems either and temps where fine.. thats the nice thing about the vtwin the motors dont strain at all. as far as the hyperion I doubt they will fit..
