In a way I am right there with you on the Lipo prices. But on the second hand. Keeping them expensive make you realize which ones are worth a crap and which ones are crap.

that seems like it would be logical, except look at the ni-mh market over the past few years. it's one of the most dishonest markets out there for r/c. a lot of the most expensive packs/companies are some of the worst quality. basically, the $150 dual packs (for the maxx, as an example) have about the same build quality as the $30 paper weight packs you can find on feebay. just because they use brand name cells doesn't mean they're worth anywhere close to the price being asked.

lipo seems to be the same way - at least, the same company that sold the garbage ni-mh packs for $150 are now selling boat loads of lipos that apparently don't hold up to the specs given, but it seems to be more well-known which lipos are good and which ones are not so good... and all within the same price bracket.

I agree with you clod. Plus people are buying lipos and running them no where near their ratings. Suddenly these people are experts and say how great their purchases are. Any lipo performs well when it is runing at 1/4-1/3 of its rating. Its like putting a 10000mah lipo in a mini t and then saying how great it is. Of couse it is only pushing out 15 amps, it should be amazing. I hate "internet experts", I have purchased about 4 grand worth of lipos and am still learning about lipos and getting a good feel for what is worth it and what is overrated.

I do find the humor of the crappy nimh packs. Even the best nimh packs I have seen and used are not as good as a 12c 3600mah polyrc lipo that I paid 30 bucks for. But nimh packs still carry ridiculous prices, just like the 5yr old novak escs!
