Running the MM on 5s requires more care than running it on 4s. Improper gearing can eaily overload it on 5s. But other than that I dont see any reason why not. I run my buggy with a MM on 5s all the time when not on the track.

Just watch your ESC heats carfully untill you are comfotable that you have it geared correctly and you arent overloading the esc.

The 8xl might be a little bit hot of a motor to run on 5s consistanly on the MM. IMO you would would probably have more sucess with a 9xl or even a 10xl on 5s. It would keep the heat down on both the motor and the MM and still have plenty of power. I ran my cen buggy on 5s and a 10xl and was able to walk on the local nitro bashers with modified Novarossi 28s in their buggies, so there will be plenty of speed and power.
