In the beginning, I didn't. But decided to keep it on there.

The mod 1 gears are great and showing no wear as of yet. I figure dirt getting caught in the mesh will cause the most amount of wear. Keeping the cover on will prolong the life of the gears.

I'll open it up every now and then and take a peek though.

I took the endbell off both the 10 turn and the 8 turn to do some side by side comparison. They are twins except for the fact that the 8 turn's stator poles look like a good balance between fill and just enough space for good air flow. The 10 turn stator poles are just as full as possible.

I wanna do a Traxxas Villian Boat with a pair of these AXI 2826/8 motors, a CC BEC, a pair of MM ESC's, and a 4S 10,000mah Lipo setup. They have enough torque to get it up far into the "fun" zone.
