Just finished the first Mamba Max test run with this setup.
I have ran the Mamba Max in the beginning when it first came out, and I really didn't much care for it. It didn't work with outrunners at all, and I had glitching, along with radio range issues that I couldn't figure out. The range issues disappeared when I switched to a different ESC. So go figure, I dunno.
But for me in the beginning, there was this "black cloud" that followed the Mamba Max around, so I steered clear of it. I opted for the higher priced Quark Line. I have been very pleased with the Quark ESC's. I now own 3 of them. One 80amp, and 2 of the Monster Pro's.
IMO, this Mamba Max isn't the same speed controller at all. It just gave me a performance, I must say, is slightly better than the Quark did with this setup.
It's must be more on target with motor timing, because I'm seeing cooler motor temps. I do have the punch control set to 100%, which could be the root of the cooler temps. But this is just another great part of Castle's programability.
The ESC ran cool. I was very surprised at this, because when I first tried it with outrunners, it didn't want to run them. It would thermal within minutes.
It gave me about 4 more minutes of runtime. Could be I drove it a little different. Could be that the punch control helps tame starting amperage spikes. BUT, there was a ton of dirt and grass hung up in the drive shafts and wheels that I blew out with compressed air after the run. So Tit for Tat, I think it's more efficient.
This "New" Mamba Max knows exactly how to start this outrunner. It even sounds different in doing so. Ultra Low speed on the trigger or grabbing WOT, it doesn't matter. Brakes are smooth set at 50%.
Way to go Castle!!! With the new MMM having this firmware and seeing how this setup performs, I am sold!
Now I'll shut and take my place in the waiting line for the New MMM!
