look what came in the magic brown truck. - 02.20.2008, 02:42 AM

yay, my ebay purchase is here. stuck a high torque steering servo in, got a couple battery straps and a y-harness and its off for 2-5s a123 fun!
The motor has 4096 and 60 written on it, does this mean i can assume its a 6L based off of the motor chart? and if so, am i running a risk of exploding it using over 10 volts?

Alright, I just ran it a bunch on 4s, at the end of the run, the motor was ok to touch for a long time (10s+) but the esc was beeping at me, descending beeps I think and wouldn't move or steer or anything. Is that the mamba thermalling? I was driving the e-revo, my cousin(also 19) was driving my rustler. We crashed and snapped the rustler front bulkhead, whoops. pictures if you guys want em. Also, on 4s it was just a tad slower than the rustler which the rc calc said was going 53!

Were you running an external BEC or receiver pack? If you weren't, the 4s overheated the internal BEC (it has its own thermal protection), and then turns back on when it cools off (which turns the ESC back on, causing the tones you hear).

you say on 4s the temps were good? atleast on the motor? do you have a gun? if its a 6l and its going that fast on 4s it probly be good for 3s right? not that fast but would run good? whats your gearing?

No I dont have a gun, but the esc was far hotter. I have 13/38 gearing, not sure about inside the tranny. and yes its also fast on 3s, but not quite as fast, and I like it going 4s fast. Is the gearing too high/low if the esc is hotter?

but you say the reustler is supposedly doing 53... probly more around the 50 if thats what the charts are saying... and the revo almost kept up on 4s... so on 3s it still be about a 35-40mph truck probly... need to drop the gearing some though maybe? temps would they be any different on 3s? anyone know? have you yourself run on 3s?
