CRT.5 Shock caps - 03.03.2008, 08:18 AM

I am having trouble finding the plastic shock caps for the stock CRT.5 shocks. (I broke two of them at the same time with a hard upside down landing.)

When I search for them, I just keep coming up with the metal collar part of the shock caps like this:

I need the plastic part that goes through this metal piece and actually attaches to the shock tower.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

It's part of a big plastic sheet, unlucky :P only $4 though. Link.

There's a big one and a small one on it, have no idea what the smaller one is for... A different car maybe??

Excellent. Thank you!

Do you know if there are aluminum shock caps available to use instead? Maybe even from another company or something? (Those plastic ones broke too easily compared to other bad landings I've had with other vehicles.)

If not, you can't beat $4!

My solution is just bigger shocks. Jammin or any other companies front 1/8 buggy shocks in the rear of the .5, and DM-1 shocks in the front. I'm trying to come up with a solution on how to use Jato/Revo shocks in the front, but it looks like it will require either custom arms or a custom shock tower.

I've broken a lot of parts on my e-crt.5, but not a shock cap. I think it is because I use the shorter plastic caps. However, if someone made an aluminum cap I'd get those just to be safe.

From what I've seen on the nitro forums for this, this is a common problem and so far there is no alu cap available. Most go to the DM-1/X1 shock setup like MM desc, but its a bit pricey.

This would be a really nice part for Mike to make and would fit a wide audience. Looks like a lot of people are looking for it. The only difficult thing maybe the alu shock tower post the cap is supposed to press onto. Obviously if they are both alu you will have problems (presumably this is why the Ofna caps are plastic?)

Jammin/Ofna use the same type of mount with the aluminum caps, but they put a washer and nut behind the shock so it won't slip off the mount. I'd guess the tolerance is a bit looser than the plastic part so that it is removable and thus requires the backing washer and nut.
