Back when MGMs were new to us in the U.S. they were priced incredibly low. You could get a 12012 for something like $150-180, but they didn't have their higher amp/voltage ESCs out yet. I remember watching the price of that same ESC jump up almost $250! Whether it's MGM increasing their profit margin or the decreasing value of the dollar or a combination of both, their ESCs are just too expensive IMO.

As for the Phoenix 180, I'm sure it will be robust. Some minor heatsinking will make it even more capable. However, I couldn't justify spending $225 on it, when you can get a HV-110 through Tower for only $200 with the right coupon. HV-110 will do double the voltage of the Phoenix 180, and it will push out almost 1000 watts more with the right battery (5280watts vs 4320 watts).
