All you really need is to pick up a 3.3 chassis, I got mine on Ebay for $20. Then you'll need the 3.3 steering linkage, and the 3.3 center shafts. Grab the motor brace also if you don't have one already.
I got everything I needed for less than $50. No reason to buy that $100 kit.
you definately need the longer steering linkage, and the longer front center driveshaft. Of course, you can cut a regular slider to length for the front center, and it's possible you might have a turnbuckle lying around that would be close enough for the steering link ?
thanks 83gt i will probably buy the parts, question is the 3.3 transmission case need i know you can put the rear breake on it but what does that help, helps with racing i need it cause i am racing.
thanks for your help
well, that depends completely one what sort of setup you are using. If you're running something like the tekno rc kit and maintaining the stock mech brakes, then yes, the 3.3 tranny is nice to have. If you're using the RCM mount and locking in 2nd, then the mechanical brakes are of no use to you.
First a quick intro since this is my first post...
I've been a long time lurker and have finally decided to do an e-revo conversion.
@83gt: Why do the mechanical brakes become useless if you are locked in 2nd gear? It seems like it wouldnt matter what gear you are in or running, the mech brakes are still gonna work.
TIA
They dont become useless as-such, but if you lock the tranny into second gear, the motor pinion & spur become 'one', so applying mechancial brakes would force the motor to try and slow down, which would be bad if the throttle was still on to any degree. Easy way around that is to use mech brakes with channel mixing on the throttle. Its all good fun...
