and this is why i had no time for rc this weekend - 03.25.2008, 05:48 PM

me and my dad painted my car this weekend. part of getting this car is having something that stands out and is somewhat rare to see. lately i'm seeing more and more of them around so i decided to spruce it up a bit. this is what we got done in 2 and 1/2 days of hard work.

Pretty. I like the orange (similar color as my car, but definitely not a Crossfire!)

i think i have to skip out this weekend. having a family reunion and supposed to be a camping trip all in one package. thats if the rain stays away.

we had clouds when i took that last pic, but the orange is very flashy. its funny, i haven't gotten looks like this since i had my 68 camaro in high school. lots of stares, pointing, and conversations at the gas stations.

How do you keep the paint perfect and dirt free, when you don't have a pain both or an air cleaner. Don't you get impurities and what not?

the secret is just go for broke. his roads are even dirt roads and he is on the corner of two roads. there isn't any dirt that i seen in the paint. we've been painting out there for years, and most turned out pretty good. some where even done under the pine trees.

I have a heated downdraft spraybake booth at my shop. It is great, mainly cause all we do is paint in it, that way it stays clean. Keeping the floor clean and not stirring up dust is the best way to get a clean job. Cleaning the car is also very important, as most of the trash comes off the vehicle. We will clean a car at least 3 times before we paint it.

Nice job, especially done outside of a booth. It is fun to do some custom work on a vehicle, but the bulk of my business is accident repair, so i do not get to do as much as I like. Summer is comming so all of my rc boats will get some sort of paint work, mostly airbrush by my buddy. He is about as good as David L from what I can tell, but not canadian, so he does lack that skill!
