My first conversion - Hyper 7 PBS - 04.04.2008, 05:39 AM

Just completed my first conversion and I think it went pretty well. Here are the spec's:

Hyper 7 PBS
Feigao 9L w/ heat sink
MambaMax
13t pinion / 46t Kyosho spur
5000mah 4S LiPo
Spektrum 2.0 Radio

The hardest part was, of course, figuring out a way to mount the battery. I eventually just screwed on an angled bracket from Home Depot and used some (industrial strength) Velcro. It seems very secure. See the following pictures below.

Just took it out for a spin and I'm very happy with the performance. My cousin, who has all nitro cars/trucks such as the Revo 3.3, was surprised at the acceleration and top speed. All in all, I'm very satisfied with how well the build went and the end result. However, it wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't for this forum. I'm not sure if I ever made any posts but I've read so many of yours and learned a LOT. So, thank you. Tell me what you think and feel free to give any suggestions that would improve it in anyway.

Looks pretty good to me. Is that an old Cold Fusion motor mount? The only suggestion I would make is to secure the battery better.

Nice conversion =)
I agree with HappyWing, you need more then velcro to hold a 100+ dollar battery :D

Will that 4s pack lay flat and still fit in the chassis? If so, you may just consider one of the available battery-trays. Here are a couple of options:

Thanks for suggesting those battery trays; they look nice. I might have to get the Tekno one later. For now, I'll just add some more velcro and another angle bracket at the front, then see how that goes.

The battery is from Efuel Hobbies. It's only 16C/80A, but it was a good deal when I got it - brand new off eBay for less than $90. As long as I don't go crazy with gearing, I should be fine. Right? Sadly I don't have the equipment to know the amp draw on load, although I find that the ESC, motor, and battery are not running hot after about 10 min. of run time.

So long as the electrics are cool after a good session, thats the important thing. Only suggestion I have is some put some foam/padding over those exposed screws on the battery mount, to prevent them from damaging the lipos that are sat ontop of them. Looks excellent otherwise, nice job.
