Ok, just called Medusa Research about 20 seconds ago about my motor with the heatsink. They already glued the heatsink on to the motor (I ordered it Thursday evening, they did it Friday), but are going to pop it off for me, and ship the motor and heatsink to me anyway. So I will get the heatsink and the motor separately as opposed to the heatsink being attached.
Turns out I beat the nice lady who answered the phone to the punch though. They were going to actually call me about the email I sent them and explain to me what was going to happen instead of emailing me back! She also said the motor is shipping out today, so another huge plus in my book. She told me exactly what the deal was, and that's that.
So far, I have to give Medusa an A+++ on the customer service. Easy, painless, and very very nice people to deal with.
I'll let you guys know in a month how the motor performs.
Edit: Forgot to ask you guys something. I'm looking at another 2s lipo in the future. I've read that flightpowers are awesome and I am considering a 2s 4900mah pack (not the trakpower hard case though), but how are the neu energy 2s 5000mah 25C packs that Mike has in the store? Are they a true 25C pack? I've bought from him before (some steel parts for my Rustler like the diff and idler), and had a very good experience (therefore, it would be nice to purchase through him versus tower or some other place). Thanks! This motor's max current specs made me think about whether or not my 4500mah Trinity lipo will be up to it for a very long while.

The neuenergy lipos are the smae cells as the flightpower, both are enerland. I have a neu 5000 3s pack and it is very nice.

Neu Energy uses cells from Enerland just like Flight Power, so it will do the job.

Awesome! Thanks guys. I was not aware that the Neu Energy packs used the enerland cells. Around 95 bucks isn't a bad price for a 2s 5000mah 25C pack.

Yeah. I'm kicking myself in the pants, because I bought this Trinity Lipo last year for 85 bucks plus shipping. The Neu packs are only 10 bucks more and have better specs (20C 4500 vs. 25C 5000). Damn.:(
Hopefully I have some money left over from my summer job this year to splurge a little (gotta save up a ton of gas and food money for next year since I can't work during the school year).

I just ordered a 36-50-3300v2 for my HPI NMT, I have an Ammo 36-50-3300 now. Should be fun to see how they do head to head.
I checked Medusa out before I saw this thread and had blown them off as too small for the 3905 maxx I've been working on, after reading the thread linked in the begining I decided to get an upgrade for the NMT.
I have been running the Ammo in my maxx on 5s2p A123. Power wise it's great on a 14T pinion, but it's running quite hot so I just ordered a 6xl for it but I do still want to try the Medusa just to see how it does on the larger truck.
Still wish Medusa had either a longer version or a higher KV on the 36-60.
BTW 5 0 Joe, dont get to bumed out when new better packs come out a few months after you buy some. Happens all the time, if you wait for the latest and greatest you'll find yourself waiting and not driving.
Are there any other midrange motors in the $120-$170 price range. I looked around last weekend but really didnt find anything but Medusa and Mega. Neither had anything that really turned my crank for a big truck on 5s a123.

I know what you mean buzzsaw. Whenever I buy something new, its upgrade/replacement always comes out. I've learned to accept it.... LOL! I figure I'll let the Trinity die on me first; then I'll get the Neu Energy pack . I REALLY need to stop buying stuff....haha!
Looks like you'll get a chance to test the motor before I get to; lemme know how it goes. I got the 4800 kv 50mm long V2 for my Rustler....:D I think the 60mm motors would move your emaxx quite well; especially since it's going through a transmission and not a center diff (plus you'll be using 5s A123). That's my opinion; I don't know how powerful these motors are yet though.

I'll put up some eagle trees of the Ammo and Medusa possibly this weekend. With the specs so close for these two motors it should be interesting!

Indeed. I bet the medusa blows the ammo away though. From the few other reviews and graphs I've seen, it's a pretty nasty motor line (amp hungry though).

I hope so! At 3 times the cost it better have some magic in it. I honestly cant complain about the Ammo with it only costing $35.
I think your right about the 60mm series but I like gearing for about 40k motor RPM, untill the MMM hits the streets I can only get about 30k out of the 36-60-2000. Of curse this is all 2 pole motor theory the 4 pole Medusa might just have the torque I want at lower RPM's. The 50-3300 should answer this for me by dropping to a 4s and seeing how it does with a taller gear ratio, the Ammo stunk setup like this!

I can't wait to see how one of these 50mm motors moves an Emaxx.. I'm most curious as to how hot it'll run. If you can, could you possibly get some temperatures for us also? Thanks!

Yep, temps will be logged.
I ran with the Ammo under a heat sink yesterday for the first time and the temps stayed under 120f with a 13t pinion and 68t spur. Without a heat sink I was up in the 170-180f range so the heat sink is making a huge differance.
Top speed is in the mid 30's with this gearing, torque is good enough to lift the front end at up to about 10-15mph. Not huge power but quite a bit better than stock. On a 15t pinion the top speeds are in the high 30's to low 40's, wheelies up in the 20+mph range, temps were getting close to 200f though.
I was airing it out big time yesterday, I cleared a two lane gravel road using the slope of the ditch as a ramp, I wasn't expecting it to fly so well at the speed I'm getting. I was stoked because it took alot of power and money to get my T-maxx to clear that road, and the E is doing it with nothing more than a $160 motor/ESC combo. Quite happy with this Ammo motor for the price! Cant wait to try out the Medusa, it should be awesome.

With regards to mid range motors, the only other choice I dont think has been mentioned are the Megamotors. They have a nice range of sizes and kv ratings similar to Neus, but about half the price- good motors by all accounts: MegaMotors.
