I let my friend use my 9xl & i just got it back. My ? is one of the wires is broken between the plug & the endbell. Will this hurt the performance that much or not at all ?.

if it doesnt pass current, it will hurt it alot, or not even work at all

Well you said it was "one wire" originally not one strand. Just tape/shirink it up so it doesn't short on something and you'll be fine.
...and tell your friend to be more careful!
