I also had to open up the brake area a bit to fit the spur gear, but it is a pretty easy conversion. Mike is more than welcome to make a conversion based on my design, I would buy one just to get his awesome machining.

I also blew up one of the rear pinion bearings today. The small 8x12 bearings just can't take the load of the spiral cut gears.

I took an old Kyosho 8x16 metal bushing and machined it down to fit. It won't break, but now the rear diff is temping at 90-95 degrees I guess there is a little bit of friction. I guess I will have to get a bunch of the 8x12 bearings and just change them every dozen runs or so.

Sike had the same issue with his inner bearing on the rear diff of his revo when using the spiral cut gears. I suggested making a spacer that would fit between the 2 bearings, and distibute the load onto both bearings. Basically it would allow you to clamp the bearings between the pinion and the drive cup, and it would be impossible to push the center out of the bearing. Just a thought...

Good idea. I will do that as soon I can get some more bearings.

I picked up a FlyCamOne the other day and tried it out. I mounted it in my E-revo and ripped around my yard. The camera slipped a little half way through and you can see the rockers doing their thing, looks pretty neat. The donuts can make a person sick though.

Cool vid. I like d seeing the rockers. Gives you a littel more apreciation for all the engineering involved in that suspension.

That is cool indeed- its hard to visualize the rockers and how they work when just looking at a picture, but that vid gives you a really good view.

Take the body off and do it again! lol

I got mine from Great Hobbies in Edmonton, but it is distributed by Hobby Lobby. $99.99

Is is pretty cheap, but it seems to work OK. You will also have to buy an SD memory card, unless you have one from a digital camera. It is also firmware upgradable, which is a nice feature.

14/46 pinion spur with the 4.3:1 truggy diffs. Geared for around 36-38 mph on 4s. I need thicker center diff fluid as it still diffs out quite a bit even with 120k.

I am using a regular 36mm motor with no finns, just the RCM heatsink. It is tight, but fits. If you are going to use a finned motor, you will have to grind the fins a bit to get it to fit. I like this gearing as it is easy on the esc and battery. It's also the perfect speed for my sandpit. If I was doing more open running, I would probably run higher gearing for more speed. It is quick, but not real fast as is.
