Which is better? (mega/feigao) - 04.22.2008, 11:39 AM

I'm looking at the mega ACn 22/30/1 and the feigao 380c-6L. Which is better? Whats the differences between the two besides price. This is going into a ruslter with 3S lipo. Thanks.

The Mega.

- better quality components.
- hand wound and better quality control.
- 6 pole vs 2 poles.
- more efficient.

here's some more info:

OK thanks for the input. The megas are 6 pole which I'm not sure if that work with my speed control but I guess it's worth a go. If it doesn't work I can get a different speed control.

Which ESC do you have? If it's any of the BK-Warriors, you're right, it won't work. Other ESCs should be ok though.

Well my mega motor came in today. I put it on and its not working right. Just holding it in my hand the motor kicks hard and no cogging what so ever but it seems to not be getting max rpm. Holding the motor in my hand the rpms climb fast but it seems to be lose power then power comes back really fast back and forth. The motor barely gets warm and the speed control, bat and wires are all cool. Any suggestions? If its the speed control what one would you guys recommend?

Quark 80b maybe? I think they are better suited to multi-pole motors than most escs, although the Mambamax should be fine too probably.

I called mega and he said my controler probably has a built in rpm limit and with the 6pole design the controler thinks the motor is spinning at a much higher rpm then it really is. He also said that the mamba max would work fine. Should I go with MM or wait for the MMM. I only plan to run 3S but I like the fact that the MMM has a built in fan although I might be able to rig my fan up to work. descions decsions.

speed demon, I would imagine you could pick up a MM for a real low price once the MMM's hit the shelves. If you arn't going past 4S soon I would wait a few more weeks and start watching ebay and the FS threads for the MM's people will be offing cheap to help fund their MMM purchases.

The newer software for the MM makes running multipole/outrunners smooth as silk.

If I could only draw what I see in my head, then afford to build it, and finaly get to play with it...

You could've asked some other people or even myself as I tired the VXL and I think I even posted something in the forum about it not working with the Mega. You had a very nice motor and it would've made a nice motor for the MM, Jeti Master Car maybe even the Tekin R1. You just threw away a great high torque motor. Maybe you sold it for more then you paid for them.

Ditto what lutach said, you should have kept it. I hope you got good money for it.

I got a ton of runs on the motor and truck all together. Was looking for abit more power and efficiency. I did get alot more the what I thought I'd get out of it. More then enough to buy a new speed control and a fan outright. There are 5 of us that race and 4 of us that have rustlers. 2 with vxl the other two regular with modified motors. We try to keep everyone even so its fun. I run my rustler on training mode to keep everything close. Well they found great deals on 8 cell nimh and now are walking me on training mode but I still smoke them on 100%. I figured maybe a better motor would even things out.(still very new to this stuff) But since it won't work and one of the guys wanted my setup I just sold it to him and now I'll buy the new MM and fan. Didn't mean to offend anyone.

No one is offended, some of the guys here are just motor guru's and can tell you what motors are good-ok-not bad-cheap- or junk hahaha

Besides budget is everything, and no one would knock you for selling it off to step up to a Neu -wink wink-
