Hey guys, the 50mm Medusa ran great yesterday. Motor got to 160 at its hottest (after 15 min of practice) but mostly stayed around 140-150. Top speed was great on 4s (I was running Hyperion 5350mah 16c and MaxAmps 6000mah 20c packs) and it also had plenty of torque. My setup weighs in at about 8 lbs (I'll get an exact weight of my setup by Monday or Tuesday) and it had no problems pulling it. That may be a little heavier than other conversions but I run a clutch and mechanical brakes. My gearing was stock for the Losi, 13/48. The only problem I had was the endbell started to come out after the first qualifier. I tapped it back in and ran CA around the seam and had no more problems with it throughout the day. I qualified 6th for the A main and quickly made my way up to 4th where I was battling the only truggy that showed up to race that day. The top 3 were really good drivers, one is sponsored and lapped everyone twice so I was really happy to have a battle for 4th. At the 7 min mark my buggy slowed and sounded like I stripped a spur so I pulled it off. The center rear driveshaft popped out of the center diff cup! I was done, I thought about trying to fix it (it was a 20 min main so I coulda made up some time) but I took some video of the other 2 brushless 8ight's running (they finished 2nd and 3rd). I will try to get it posted today but it might not be until Tuesday. Unfortunately I couldn't get anyone to get video of my running the Medusa but one of the other brushless setups was running a 1509 2y (1820kv) and he had a little more torque but on the back straight I could just walk away from him, but he was a better driver so it didn't matter, lol.
Anyway, it was a fun day, good testing. If there's any questions about my setup or the other 2 brushless guys I'd be happy to answer them. I may have a pic up later of the motor mounted up.
