Unhappy Problems when using MGM USBCom+ - 05.06.2008, 03:01 PM

Hi guys. I just bought the USBCom+ and I'm having a problem. Namely that the controller never shows as being "ONLINE" and therefore I can't view/change any settings on it. I have looked at the other related threads but I didn't find a solution there so I thought I'd bring it up in my own.

I have tried hooking it up w/wo the reciever and radio turned on, w/wo the cc_02 connection cable, with the controller on/off, and any combination of those.

The drivers were properly installed as well. My computer finds the USBCom+ and the controller program opens flawlessly. The only problem, which is a big one, is that the controller never comes "ONLINE".

It bugs me that expensive stuff like this can't ever work correctly the first time.

You will need the cc_02 cable for all newer ones. Start the program, hook everything up, plug into computer, then power up controller (leave connected to receiver).

No good. I know I need to use the cable, but I thought I would try without it for kicks. The little green LED is pulsing. Do you know what that means? MGM gives no explanation in their manual. Still wont go online.

The green light in USBcom? I believe it just shows communication with pc (not positive).

hey David thanks for posting that link. I am flagging this thread so I can use this info when I begin to setup my MGM 160/24. I have to wait until we get re-settled in Korea in august/08, because we are already begining our packout for the move. Great info guys. Thanks and good luck with that.

Yes David but finding info like that (link) which has something to do with or that applies to what I am using it is like finding gold. That link can help a lot of guys having similar problems with the MGM ESC's just by gaining access to those software updates. And your english is a little bit broken but you manage to get your message across and that is all that matters. At least you are trying, and this may well be your classroom for learning English. So keep it up Man.

So do I need to update the controller first? That means I have to buy ANOTHER cable (cc_03)! Mike doesn't sell it. That's gonna cost me $25 to have a little thing shipped from China or Czech! That's on top of the $20 they charge for the cable itself. The USBCom+ is version 3.10. I believe my controller was version 2.32(?). I wonder if people in Europe have as many issues with these things? At least they don't double their costs with shipping charges!
